Inter-religious harmony

India is a country of more than one billion people, the majority of whom are Hindus. Nevertheless, we also have large populations of minorities, with about 150 million Muslims, making India, the second largest Muslim population in the world, after Indonesia. There are also many millions of Christians, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists. India is always known for Unity in Diversity and Jharkhand is not averse to this, but in past couples of years communal incidents have been on rise in Jharkhand especially the question has risen with issue of Sarna Tribal and Christian Tribal. The larger question is how to defuse division in the name of religion and faith, when Jharkhand is struggling with the question of insider-outsider (Adivasis vs. non Adivasis). We need to understand that tribals as an identity is a major unifying factor, which binds tribals together irrespective of their religious practices and identities. In such a situation, it is important that Sarna tribals and Christian tribals should come together and amicably resolve this divide between them and defeat the dividing forces of the few for whatever their aspirations could be. This is the manadate given to SIGN to work for the UNITY of traibals, so that one Jharkhand is created and not divided Jharkhand.
