The nineteenth General Body meeting of Social initiatives for Growth and Networking (SIGN) Ranchi was held on 24th July 2018 at 2:30 pm in the Conference Hall of the Social development Centre. Except Bishop Julias Marandi, the Bishop of Dumka, Fr. Alwin, and Mr. Benjamin Lakra all the other members were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, tribute was paid to Late Bishop Charles Soreng S.J. the first President of SIGN and a founding member & Late Rev. Fr. Irudayam Savarimuthu S.J., who was very helpful in giving legal identity to BIJHAN and later on to SIGN.
Awakening Tribal Soul was one of the points arose after the minutes of the last year’s meeting presented. All the members said since Tribal Identity has to be restored so SIGN needs to be given the mandate to take it forward.
Fr Bipin presented the Annual Report of 2017-18, prepared by Fr. Christu Das. He mostly spoke about the projects implemented by different dioceses and supported and guided by SIGN.
Mr. Alexander Kerketta, Thematic Manager – Tribal Development from Caritas India State Office was the special invitee during the meeting. He briefed the members about the four Key Strategic Pillars of Caritas. It was also discussed that Lenten collection and finally it was decided that since latent collection is done by the diocese so diocese will continue doing that, DSSS could support them to do so.
